Dr Long holds a liberal arts degree with honours (minor in philosophy) from Loyola Marymount University, California, and a combined Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Science (Medicine) from the University of New South Wales.


She trained as a junior doctor in Western Sydney before completing psychiatry training at major Sydney hospitals including Royal North Shore, Westmead, Nepean, St Vincent’s, and Royal Prince Alfred, with additional rural locum work across regional Australia.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Specialising in consultation-liaison psychiatry, Dr Long focuses on the intersection between mental health and medical conditions.


Her advanced training focused on supporting people facing complex health challenges, including those living with:

  • perinatal mental health concerns

  • acute or chronic pain

  • neurological disorders

  • cancer

  • organ transplants

Pain Medicine

Dr Long’s interest in pain medicine grew from recognising its intricate relationship with mental health - a focus she pursued through:

  • Two years of specialist pain medicine training at St Vincent’s and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals. 

  • A Specialist Training Award from the NSW Higher Education Training Institute (HETI) to study attachment theory and psychotherapy in chronic pain populations.

Trauma Interest

Dr Long is committed to supporting

  • asylum seekers

  • survivors of war

  • veterans

  • survivors of family violence and abuse

  • survivors of sexual assault

She regularly participates in peer professional development focused on trauma-informed care, with particular focus on:

  • Post-traumatic stress disorder

  • Complex PTSD

  • Somatic symptom and related disorders

Dr Long provides affirming, inclusive healthcare and our practice is a safe, welcoming space for LGBTI+ 🏳‍🌈🏳‍⚧ individuals and their families.

Care for Medical Professionals

Dr Long provides confidential psychiatric care for doctors and healthcare workers. She offers a safe, non-judgmental space to address burnout, stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues affecting medical professionals.

Dr Long has presented her research at professional meetings and has been an invited speaker at medical and legal conferences. She is committed to continuing professional development through participating in training courses, conferences and CPD activities to ensure the highest standards of clinical practice.


Dr Long teaches doctors and medical students and is a lecturer for the RANZCP formal education course for psychiatry trainees.

  • WorkCover Independent Medical Examiner (IME) and NSW State Insurance Regulatory Authority Assessor of Permanent Impairment Training

Dr Long is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrist and is a member of the sections of consultation-liaison psychiatry and psychotherapy (RANZCP). 

Dr Long is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Psychiatry, Psychology and the Law, the American Psychiatric Association, and the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies.
